Banana Chocolate Chip Cookies

By about five thirty this afternoon I felt like I had totally wasted my day. An unfulfilling quest for shoes for a wedding had irritated me, and I wanted to make something to end the afternoon on a better note. I had an hour before my evening cinema plans and quickly threw together this recipe for banana chocolate chip cookies. It was really simple and they came out with a cakey quality similar to a whoopie pie. For this recipe I recommend baking on a lower heat so the chocolate chips don't burn and they bake more evenly.

Happy Birthday Grandy

My Grandmother ('Grandy') works hard all year cooking us amazing food. And even though her cakes are amazing, you really can't make your own birthday cake. So I set about making her something special using white and yellow which is a colour combination I associate with her. I strangely have never made a Victoria Sponge cake and insist on going around trying different ones, but always find them quite dry. Therefore in this one I used seedless raspberry jam and fresh raspberries and used the Hummingbird Frosting as the buttercream. I had no choice but to use natural icing sugar so that's why the buttercream is a bit of a funny colour but it tastes the same. She thought the cake was great and I'm glad that I could do something nice for her.

Cricket Cupcakes

I couldn't tell you anything about cricket, except that Weybridge Cricket Club are having a fundraiser this Sunday. I know this because my friend asked me to help her make cupcakes for it as she works for the club catering for the teams. We used the logo on their cricket tops to inspire the decoration and colour. I think they look kind of masculine and cool but have not helped to enhance my knowledge of the game one bit.
