Road Trip Reunion

Last night we had a Road Trip Reunion. It was a lovely evening with everyone getting together to look at photos and share stories from our trip to America this summer. We were hosted by the Speer family and special guest Judy who kindly made us dinner when we met up with her in Charlotte. As she was over for Christmas, last night she recreated the amazing spaghetti and meatball dinner we had while visiting. I contributed these cupcakes I made using the Primrose Bakery recipe. I used blue sugar pearls and strawberry laces for the flag. They were nothing in comparison to the amazing cupcakes which Peter Speer made (below). They replicated the spaghetti and meatball dinner we had just had. It included ferrero rocher for the meatballs, jam for the sauce and white chocolate shavings for parmesan! Genius!

Mince Pies

Mince pies are a must at Christmas apparently. I don't tend to eat them and I'm not sure why, but I do like to make them. I used a pastry recipe that my family swears by. I filled them with the amazing mincemeat given to us by the wonderful Amanda. These little star mince pies smelt so good I may even have to try one myself. Merry Christmas!

Edible Gift Tag

Christmas present wrapping gets stepped up a notch every year in my house. This year I was inspired by this cute wrapping paper I bought for my mum. I made this edible gift tag to go with the cookies on the paper.

Christmas Biscuits Half Dipped in Chocolate

In my family we have a lot of Christmas traditions, but making these biscuits has to be one of my favourites. They are normally our Christmas breakfast while opening presents. Although I'm told we can never have too many, this time I thought the dough would never run out... I made 49 trees and 29 snowflakes.

White Chocolate Stars

For my birthday my lovely flatmate bought me silicone cakes cases. They are amazing and make moulds so much easier as they pop right out. I covered the tops of them in Green & Blacks white chocolate which is a firm favourite in my house. I can't wait to try out the heart shaped ones for Valentines...

Snowmen Couples

So upon my Dad's last return from America he presented me with this amazing snowman cake tray. Now the festive season is here it was the first thing I wanted to make. These little guys came out nicely first try. I then iced outlines onto them to highlight the mould. I can't imagine it will take long for these couples to be separated...

Snow Day Pancakes

So on a snow day there is nothing better than sitting around with breakfast on the couch. I figured that my housemates would like to be greeted with pancakes and the news that there was no university today. I used a Jamie Oliver recipe, and considering I've never made pancakes before they turned out well.
